The products of Microinvest support fully functional integration with video surveillance systems. The technology of connecting with a video surveillance system is integrated in Microinvest Warehouse Pro Light and does not require the installation of additional external modules. The technology is entirely software-based and does not need any additional hardware in order for the integration to be achieved. It allows each customer operation to be visualized as text, which is synchronized to the image displayed through the camera. According to this text, a search in the video archive can be performed and all frames related to a specific activity that the operator has done, can be easily projected and visualized.



The advantage of the integration with systems for video surveillance is that you full control over all operations can be exercised in real time. Each moment, information regarding the work of the operator is sent and subtitles describing the operations appear on the screen. This way, all products that the operator checks or mark and all correction regarding the sale of products and other operations can be tracked. The system shows the sum and the change of every payment, as well as service operations such as X and Y report, deposits and withdrawals from the cash drawer, printing of the paper of the fiscal device and many other.


Microinvest Warehouse Pro Light transmits information to the camera in real time. The retrieved information is classified into several categories:

  • Product selection and entering of quantity and price;
  • Log-in and log-out, the entering of the password and the authorization of the operator;
  • The deletion of a given row of the operation; changes in the price or quantity;
  • Performing of certain operations, for example X and Y reports, referrals to the fiscal device etc.;
  • Payment, change-giving and depositing/withdrawals from the cash drawer
  • Other operations; changes in the settings; inquiries and servicing functions.


The integration of the systems is achieved via emulation with the peripheral device. With the virtual peripheral device, the data is formed and transmitted to the video surveillance system. The emulation of separate devices is necessary in order for the visualization to be correct in terms of the data, which appear as subtitles. There are 2 types of technology for connection between the commercial software system and the video surveillance. The transmittance of data can be accomplished either through LAN or through serial interface, as if LAN is used, the existing infrastructure is used and no additional cable placement is necessary. The transmittance of information packages occurs in real time and is immediately added to the video signal. The information showcased is a 100% analogous to the information which the peripheral device is processing at the given moment.


The video surveillance system is set up as a separate device. According to the type of settings, different events occur. The emulators are separated according to several classes:

  • Video surveillance as a fiscal device. In this regime, a copy from the fiscal or sales check, which the system is currently printing, is transmitted. The transmittance of data is accomplished after each termination of the operation.
  • Video surveillance as a kitchen printer. In this regime, comprehensive data from the interim order is transmitted to the camera. This is the most suitable technology for tracking the orders to the kitchen or the bar and their quantity. The transmittance of the data is accomplished in the moment of recording of the interim order.
  • Video surveillance as a customer display. The work as a customer display of the video surveillance system allows every action of the operator to be recorded in the very moment it takes place. All operations, changes and additional data are sent to the cameras in real time. Thus, an constant flow of events, which describe the interim condition of the system, can be visualized. The difference between this regime and the “Fiscal Printer” regime is that when interim changes in an operation are made, the exact sequence or actions is visualized, whereas with the fiscal check only the final condition can be observed.
  • Video surveillance as an electronic scale. The addition of video surveillance as an electronic scale allows the tracking and measurement of all stock flows.

These different regimes can be combined. For a most complete monitoring of the work of the operators to be achieved, the video surveillance should be enabled for all above-mentioned devices simultaneously.

Working Principle

This technology is based on software emulators. Every operation, change or issuing of fiscal receipt or other document is presented as a virtual document, which is sent to the video surveillance system. The emulators repeat the actions of certain devices, which are separated into 4 classes according to the Microinvest classification – fiscal printers, kitchen printers, customer displays and electronic scales.

Emulation of a fiscal device

The emulation of a fiscal device allow for the fiscal check to be visualized on the screen in the same way as it would have looked like on the fiscal printer. Two printers are defined in the system – one real and one virtual-emulated. This way, the information is doubled, one time as a fiscal receipt and another time as a corresponding record in the video surveillance system. Payments, returned chance and other operations, related to the sale of products, are monitored.

Emulation of a kitchen printer

The emulation of a kitchen printer allows for all kitchen orders to be sent to the video surveillance system. This is especially appropriate for controlling cooks, bartenders and waiters. All data, which is sent to this device, is formatted in a convenient way and is recorded.

Emulation of a customer display

During emulation of a customer display, connected to a video surveillance system, the operations are tracked at the moment they are taking place. This allows for the monitoring of what type of product is scanned, what quantity is entered and what the price is. This module tracks other specific operations as well: log-in with a password, deletion of a row from the document, change in the price or cancelling of an operation.

Emulation of an electronic scale

Through the emulation of an electronic scale all measurements taking place at a given moment, can be tracked. The price and the measured weight are sent to the video surveillance system. This controls the measurement of goods, as the system synchronized the values that the scale and the computer display. Data is sent and recorded in the video surveillance system.

Other features

With Geovision systems, recording the activity of up to 10 workplaces is possible. Each of the workplaces can be recorded through a separate camera, thus enabling each camera to record and display information, specific only to a given workplace. The transmitted information is stored as text and a search can be conducted in order to find specific data. This way, a search of an event according to a predefined template, for example all reports, cancelled sales only, etc. In the settings panel of Microinvest Warehouse Pro Light, Video Surveillance COM and Video Surveillance TCP are selected.

Compatible systems

There exist a number of systems, compatible with the products of Microinvest. Here is a list of some of the most notable ones:

  • Geovision. The most popular of them is based on Geovision plates. Any plate, being from series 250, 600, 650, 700 and 800, is compatible with Microinvest technology;
  • Mobotix IP Cameras. These cameras support the necessary integration and are fully compatible with Microinvest products;
  • Video IQ7 and Axxon products. There are special functions for integrations with Microinvest products on a video surveillance level, incorporated in these systems;
  • Different DVR devices with Video Text Overlay. Each device, which supports the Video Text Overlay technology, is compatible with the offered system.

Other features

  • The video surveillance system can be connected with via a network or via a separate cable.
  • When connecting via a network, a device from type VideoSurveillance TCP is selected in the settings;
  • When connecting via a COM port, a device from the type VideoSurveillance COM is selected in the settings;
  • When connecting via a Video IQ7, device from the type VideoSurveillance IQ7 is selected in the settings and a specialized file for data transfer in an XML format is created. The setting is made according to the Video IQ7 system.
