There are many situations when a change in prices is needed. Microinvest's products have powerful algorithms for managing items and changing their prices. One of the opportunities offered by the program is the revaluation of the items. This is a feature for automatic price change at user-defined terms.

Types of revaluations depending on their effect

Price changing has various commercial applications, so Microinvest Warehouse Pro offers two major types of revaluations:

  • Revaluation of items in stock;
  • Revaluation of the selected items in operation.

Although in their essence these are similar operations, their action is very different and leads to different results. The detailed description explains the use of these features in real practice. Both types of revaluation are executed in the same window, with the same parameters, the difference being in the state of one option only.

Stock revaluation

The stock revaluation is a function that applies to existing quantities of items in the warehouse. Its action encompasses available items, with change being global and immediate. After this reassessment, the specified items immediately accept the new values according to the parameters set by the operator. A stock revaluation is executed when the Revaluation window is activated without a filled screen operation (delivery, sales, or similar window is not active). In this case, the "Revaluation is done on inventory stocks" option is active and cannot be changed.

Operation revaluation

Revaluation of an operation is a local function that only affects the filled-in values in the operations table. Its action can be described by the following example:

  1. Open the Delivery operation;
  2. All delivery values, such as quantities and delivery prices, are filled in.
  3. A revaluation of the operation is being performed and a Sales Price = Delivery price increased by 20% is set. This changes the values at the table, but the operation is not yet saved and the revaluation does not work;
  4. The transaction is stored and the new prices are applied to the real database.

In this way, the revaluation of a transaction is a powerful tool for price management in the currently active operation. In this case, the option "Reassessment is done on the stocks in the warehouse" is not active because the action is not on the items in the warehouse, but on the operation entered in the window below.

Math operations

The revaluation is based on mathematical operations. It allows prices to be:

  • Increased with value;
  • Decreased with value;
  • Multiplied by multiplier;
  • Divided by a particular divisor;
  • Increased by set percentage;
  • Decreased by a set percentage.

Standard mathematical operations provide the full range of tools necessary for price manipulation. Microinvest Warehouse Pro allows consistent application of several revaluations to maximize the desired effect.

Revaluation may cover one or more items. That is why filters are built in the window for the selection of items. It is those filters that allow differentiation of operations by group, by item, or by other parameters. The use of filters must be very careful in order not to change the prices of items that fall accidentally into the selected category.

Revaluation and attractive prices

There are psychologically attractive prices. Their management is also done through the revaluation module, and a special article titled "Psychologically Attractive Prices" has been published.

The revaluation work needs to be very careful as it can affect a huge number of items and prices. Before performing a revaluation, it is desirable to make a data archive because the revaluation is a non-editable and non-cancellable operation. Particular attention should also be paid to the control of this operation. Sometimes a revaluation can change the prices of 1 000 items, some of which are peculiar from a purely commercial or psychological point of view.
